Police have 35 suspects in custody after investigations into the Kapedo clashes after the banditry attacks.
In a statement, Police Spokesman Charles Owino said seven guns were recovered in an ongoing security operation in Kapedo and Arabal.
Mr. Owino warned that the security agencies will not be leaving the area until normalcy in the area is restored, asking locals to surrender voluntarily, promising that they will not be prosecuted.
“For many years we have protected pastoralists from aggression. We have recruited reservists to support the police in case of impromptu attacks. It is unfortunate that some of these pastoralists have turned against police with influential people financing criminals who are cattle rustlers," the Police Spokesman said.

Over the years, been associated with bloodbath even gaining another title, ‘Kenya’s Darfur’ after the ambush and killing of 21 Administration Police officers who were on a mission to recover stolen cattle in 2014.
The massacre staged by suspected bandits was perhaps one of the worst in the history of the region, but statistics from the National Police Service indicate that since then, more than 118 police officers have been killed.
