DJ Mfalme, his bouncer, driver, and photographer were arrested on 16 March for allegedly assaulting the DCI officer at Kikuyu Market.

Popular DJ Joseph Mwenda alias DJ Joe Mfalme will now be a state witness in the murder case of Kabete Police Station Deputy DCIO Felix Kelian.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in a letter dated 5th April 2024 advised that DJ Mfalme and his five co-accused should be witnesses in the murder case.

However, the ODPP said DJ Mfalme's bouncer, Allan Ochieng, would be charged with the murder of the police officer.

Mfalme, his bouncer, driver, and photographer were arrested on 16 March for allegedly assaulting the DCI officer at Kikuyu Market.

The officer reportedly rammed the DJ's car from behind before being assaulted over the incident.

It is also alleged that three police officers arrived at the scene, arrested the DCI officer, and took him to Kikuyu Police Station, where DJ Mfalme and his team joined but were later allowed to leave without recording a statement.

The detective complained of abdominal pains and was first taken to Langata Hospital before being transferred to Nairobi West Hospital, where he died on Friday.

In a statement on Sunday 7 April, DJ Mfalme thanked his fans for the support he received following his arrest.

“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering loyalty and encouragement during this challenging period. Our thoughts and prayers are still with the family and friends of those affected by this tragedy. The past 14 days have been intense, but your messages of solidarity and visits have kept the team going,” read the statement in part.

DJ Mfalme and his team are currently arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts for the hearing of the case.
