Deputy President William Ruto has explained why he voted early. 

Deputy President William Ruto was among the people who voted early on Tuesday, August 9, on Kosachei Primary School in Uasin Gishu County.

Addressing the press after voting, the Deputy President noted that he wanted to keep a promise he made to his supporters during the campaign trail that he would vote esrly. 

"I want to thank my village mates here for coming early. I know many of them were ahead of me I thought I was going to be the first one here. Many people are wondering why for the first time I have come so early, in the campaign trail we made a commitment to our supporters that we would do this early, and I wanted to keep that part of the bargain as well that I would make it early," DP Ruto told the press.

Ruto encouraged other Kenyans to vote early stating," I am glad so many of us have come to vote early. I have voted. You too should. Your vote counts."

Kenya Kwanza running mate Rigathi Gachagua has also cast his vote at Sagana Primary school in Mathira, Nyeri County. ,

Azimio la Umoja Presidential running mate Martha Karua has already cast her vote in Kirinyaga County. 

Agano President candidate Mwaure Waihiga has also voted at Upperhill Secondary School in Nairobi. 

Kenyans turned up to vote in large numbers across the country as early as 6:00 am.
