“This has been occasioned by my personal and compelling family matters which after taking into consideration do not allow me to take up the position as the High Commissioner to Ghana."

Former West Mugirango Member of Parliament Vincent Kemosi Mogaka has declined his nomination to be Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana.

In a letter to the National Assembly’s Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations on Tuesday, April 9, Kemosi said he would not appear before the committee for approval.

"I want to give my appreciation for the invitation to appear before the Departmental Committee on Defence Intelligence and Foreign Relations on 9th April 2024 at Parliament buildings pursuant to Section 10 of the Public Appointments Parliament Approval Act no.33 of 2011, I wish to inform that I will not appear before the said Committee at the time and venue specified for the approval," read the letter in part.

Kemosi explained that he rejected the ambassadorial nomination due to personal and compelling family matters.

“This has been occasioned by my personal and compelling family matters which after taking into consideration do not allow me to take up the position as the High Commissioner to Ghana as nominated by his Excellence the President on March 9, 2024,” the former MP stated.

Kemosi was among the individuals President Ruto nominated to be Kenyan ambassadors last month.

In the 2022 general election, Kemosi vied for the West Mugirango parliamentary seat under the UDA party ticket but lost to Jubilee’s Stephen Mogaka.

In 2023 President Ruto appointed him as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry but he did not assume the role after the High Court declared the position unconstitutional.
