The UDA politician died in a tragic road accident on Sunday morning.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has mourned the death of former Lukamanda ward MCA aspirant Godfrey Mapesa.

In a statement on Sunday, April 14, Khalwale said Mapesa died after a tragic road accident at Mwamba in Lugari, Kakamega County.

The Kakamega Senator also sent his condolences to Mapesa’s family, friends, and locals of Lukamanda ward.

“A fatal road traffic accident at Mwamba in Lugari has this morning claimed the life of our friend and political comrade, Godfrey Mapesa.

“It's hard to come to terms with this. I extend my condolences to the people of Lumakanda ward, his family, colleagues, and friends. MHSRIP,” Khalwale stated.

In the 2022 general election, Mapesa unsuccessfully vied for the Lukamanda ward MCA seat under the UDA party ticket but lost to ODM Party’s Bernand Wanonyi Mulama.

Mulama has eulogized Mapesa as a friend who will be missed by the people of Lukamanda ward.

“Saying goodbye this soon feels wrong. Writing RIP at this moment feels heavy when friendship and brotherhood are served by death. At times death doesn’t play fair.

“We as the people of Lukamanda ward have lost. Rest in peace brother, friend, and colleague Hoin Godfrey Mapesa,” the Lukamanda MCA mourned.
