The lawmaker said defending President Ruto's government was becoming tough due to officers like Koome.

Baringo woman representative Florence Jematia has gone ballistic on Police Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome, whom she accused of incompetence.

The lawmaker faulted the IG for his approach to the banditry that has claimed lives and displaced many in the north rift.

Jematia wondered why the bandits continued to terrorise residents without him making any visits to the region.

She was saddened that she had to bury people every week.

"He is one of the inept, moribund, and most clueless IG we have ever had in this country. People are killed daily as he remains in Nairobi. You can't be the head of security in the country, and yours is just to wait for reports instead of leading the war on the ground," she fired.

Jematia called on President William Ruto to replace the IG arguing that Koome had failed in his mandate.

"I asked the president to save us. The back stops with him. He should get this problem from us. He should act on it and get someone else to do the job. We are in government, but you cannot be defending the government when people die every day," she lamented.
