Failure to which, Kenya Railways vowed to take stern action.

Kenya Railways has issued a tough directive to tenants currently occupying its various premises across the country. 

In a notice issued on Tuesday, April 16, Kenya Railways directed all tenants to ensure that the rent payments are up to date.

The state authority advised Kenyans who own Kenya Railway Corporation assets to ensure the payments are duly remitted.

Failure to which, Kenya Railways vowed to take stern action.

"Evidence of payment should be presented to the nearest KR office in Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret and a receipt issued," the government entity announced.

"Take note that the Corporation will take appropriate action as provided for in the Tenancy Agreement on failure to regularize the accounts," it added.

To Submit their payments, Kenya Railways directed the tenants to:

Select Make Payments Option

Enter KRC123 as the service code.

- Enter serial number (say xxxx) as the KRC Real Estate Reference. (Confirm individual serial number from Kenya Railways offices)

Enter amount then select option 1 to confirm.

Enter your MPESA pin.

Encroachment Orders

Further Kenya Railways sounded a stern warning on residents who have encroached on its lands across the country.

The authority pointed out that encroachment on the railway operational corridor is an offence punishable by law.

Thus, Kenya Railways urged residents to move away from the encroached lands along the railway corridor.

"Our operational corridor lies along the Mombasa to Suswa Standard Gauge Railway line corridor, Mombasa- Kisumu Malaba Meter Guage railway corridor, with branch lines to Nakuru - Kisumu, Voi - Taveta, Nairobi - Nanyuki, Gilgil Nyahururu, Kisumu Butere, Eldoret Kitale, Konza Magadi and railway sidings."
