KQ called on affected customers to reach out to the airline.

 Kenya Airways (KQ) has been forced to cancel two flights to Dubai following the severe flooding in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In an update on Wednesday, April 17, KQ said it canceled one flight on Tuesday and another one on Wednesday morning.

“Due to severe weather and ongoing flooding in the United Arab Emirates, which has led to operational challenges, Kenya Airways canceled one flight into and out of Dubai yesterday, Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, and one today, Wednesday, April 17th, 2024,” read the statement in part.

The national airline apologized to its customers for the disruptions that forced it to cancel the two flights.

“We are monitoring the situation and are in close contact with Dubai authorities to minimise the inconvenience and disruption to our customers' travels,” KQ stated.

Further, KQ called on affected customers to reach out to the airline for further details.

“Affected customers are advised to get in touch at +254 711 024 747, WhatsApp: +254 705 474 747, or email: [email protected]. As this is a developing situation, we will keep you updated as soon as we have new developments,” KQ added.

On Tuesday UAE experienced the heaviest rain ever recorded in the country which led to floods on major highways and the Dubai Airport.

The Dubai Airport on Wednesday morning acknowledged that the flooding had left limited transportation options and affected flights as aircraft crews couldn’t reach the airfield.

According to reports at least 18 people have been killed in the heavy floods so far with UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology warning for large swathes of the country.
