Mwaura will replace former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura whose term has come to an end. 

President William Ruto has appointed United Democratic Alliance (UDA) elections Board chair Anthony Mwaura Ng'ang'a the new chairman of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) board. 

In the gazette notice dated Thursday, November 17, Mwaura will replace former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura whose term has come to an end. 

"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (2) (a) of the Kenya Revenue Authority Act, I, William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Anthony Ng'ang'a Mwaura to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Revenue Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 18th November 2022," the gazette notice reads in part.

Muthaura was first appointed to chair the Kenya Revenue Authority on May 23, 2018, following the revocation of Dr. Edward Sambili’s appointment to the same post.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta would then extend his term in October 2019 for a term of three years.  

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (2) (a) of the Kenya Revenue Authority Act, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, the President and Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint Francis K. Muthaura (AMB.) to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Revenue Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 21st October, 2019, “said the Gazette Notice, dated 2nd October 2019.
