“Following the heavy rains experienced last night across the country, the following roads within Nairobi County have been heavily affected leading to partial closure."

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has temporarily closed four roads in Nairobi County following the ongoing heavy rainfall witnessed across the country.

In a statement on Wednesday, April 24, KURA said the four roads have been affected by the heavy rains which has rendered them unusable by motorists.

“Following the heavy rains experienced last night across the country, the following roads within Nairobi County have been heavily affected leading to partial closure,” read the statement in part.

The four roads include; Aerodrome Road, Kapenguria Road, UN Avenue -Runda Road, and Kasarani Mwiki Road at Mwiki Bridge.

KURA also warned motorists against using Mombasa Road at Cabanas and Thika Road at Githurai/ Kahawa bridge over flooding.

“The traffic police and our technical team are on the ground to direct traffic and enhance the safety of Motorists. We shall keep you posted as the situation unfolds,” KURA stated.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) earlier announced traffic disruptions along Thika Road.

The authority advised motorists to be cautious when approaching the Juja underpass and use the service lane at Exit 14 & 15 until the water subsides.

In the Githurai Car Wash service lane, KeNHA noted that the section is now passable.

“Motorists are advised to be cautious in these and other sections that may experience occasional flooding,” KeNHA stated.
