Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has given a personal donation to help families affected by the heavy rains and floods in various parts of the country.

The former Head of State gave the donation to the Kenya Red Cross Society and directed them to provide essential aid to the affected families, offering them some comfort and solace during these difficult times.

"As a nation, we must stand together in the face of adversity, demonstrating compassion, resilience, and solidarity with one another”, he noted.

Uhuru rallied all Kenyans to unite in providing support and assistance wherever possible. Uhuru who has just been appointed to lead the African Union Election Observers Mission to South Africa, insisted that concerted efforts would help the affected families rebuild their lives.

Recognizing the ongoing challenges within the healthcare sector, the former President urges volunteer medical professionals and healthcare providers to step forward and assist the sick and injured. At the same time, he challenged the government to find a solution to end their prolonged drought.

Uhuru also sent a general message to Kenyans asking them to remain vigilant amidst heavy rains and flooding. He urged citizens to exercise utmost care, avoid crossing flooded roads or pathways, and, most importantly, seek higher ground when necessary to ensure their safety and well-being.

"The relentless rainfall has caused significant damage, displacing families, destroying infrastructure, and claiming precious lives. During this time of profound loss and despair, my thoughts and prayers are with the affected communities as they cope with the aftermath of this natural disaster," Uhuru stated.
