A section of Kenyans was quick to ask whether it would be a public holiday.

The Government has announced Friday, May 10, as a National Tree Growing Day.

In an update on Wednesday, May 8, Government spokesman Isaac Mwaur noted that CS Soipan Tuya would give more directions on the day.

"We shall be having a National Tree Growing Day on Friday 10th May 2024. A gazette notice shall be issued to this effect. Hon Soipan Tuya, Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Forestry & Climate Change shall hold a press conference today to give further directions," the statement read in part.

However, a section of netizens was quick to question why there was a tree planting exercise being carried out while it's flooding in the country.
