Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have nabbed a woman with drugs valued at Ksh15 million.

The suspect identified as Vivian Achieng Okello, was apprehended in Moyale with cocaine weighing over 3.9kg.

According to DCI, Okello was travelling from Ethiopia to Kenya using the Moyale Border Point.

However, her efforts to sneak in the Ksh15 million drugs were thwarted by detectives who noticed how she was acting suspiciously.

"Acting on actionable intelligence, the quick-witted officers led by the sub-county criminal investigations officer conducted a stealth operation that saw the suspect arrested at Moyale's one-stop border point while on her way back to Kenya from Ethiopia," DCI's statement read in part.

"Hawk-eyed sleuths spotted the suspicious woman clinging onto her suitcase, who upon questioning exhibited all indicators of the need for a search," it added.

She was escorted to DCI Moyale where a thorough search was conducted, whereby the crack was discovered stashed in two smaller bags concealed in her toiletries.

During further questioning and probe, the detectives recovered USD700 which was concealed under her shoes' inner soles.

After the arrest and discovery, detectives have initiated a legal proceeding against the suspect.
