The immigration office will be open from 9 am to 1 pm.

The Immigration Services Department has announced that its Nairobi office on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

In a notice on Thursday, May 9, the department said the opening of the office will allow Kenyans to collect their passports.

The immigration department called on Kenyans who applied and received notification to collect their passports to use the extended period to pick up their passport.

“To expedite the collection of passports, our Nairobi office will be open on Saturday, 11th May 2024 from 9 am to 1 pm. Applicants who applied for passports in Nairobi and have received notification to collect their passports are encouraged to take advantage of the extended service,” the notice stated.

On May 6, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced that the government has put in place measures for the expedition of the collection of the final batch of 45,000 passports which are now ready.

CS Kindiki noted that the passports constitute the last batch of the over 700,000 passports whose production was delayed.

“We are in the process of transforming the service delivery in relation to the issuance of the Kenyan passports as well as creating efficiency in the delivery of critical Citizen Services, notably identity documents, birth certificates, passports as well the management of foreign nationals in Kenya,” Kindiki stated.

On April 30, the Interior CS directed the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services to roll out a Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) to ensure that 49,500 passports are delivered and collected within fourteen days with effect from May 10, 2024.

According to Kindiki, there are 27,000 uncollected passports in Nairobi, 3,000 in Mombasa, 4200 in Nakuru, 4500 in Embu, 3,900 in Kisumu, 3000 in Kisii, 400 in Kericho and 3,900 in Eldoret.
