"Over 10 cases of murders and serious assaults linked to the syndicate were reported on diverse dates between October and November," DCI.

Police in Kakamega have arrested 14 suspects who are linked to an infamous criminal gang 'Mbogi La Izraim Territory' that has been terrorizing residents in the area.

In a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday, November 22, the youthful gang was notorious for attacking night guards who watch market places and late-night pubs.

However, the Mohamed Amin-led directorate said that the gangsters did not steal anything from their victims besides their heinous attacks that left many of them dead or badly injured.

"Over 10 cases of Murders & Serious Assaults linked to the syndicate were reported on diverse dates between October & November, three of the murders occurring on 17th & 19th of November," DCI stated.

DCI said that in one of the cases, a 58-year-old night guard was attacked and killed on November 17 at his place of work at a local club.

The gangsters then proceeded to kill another night guard before killing a fifth-year Masinde Muliro University student.

"On the night of Nov 19, the bloody gang advanced its attacks to Mahiakhalo in Bukhungu location, killing Patrick Kipkosgei, 24, a 5th yr student at Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology in cold blood.

"That same night, Isaiah Kiprono - a 1st yr student at the same university - survived by the skin of his teeth, when the machete-wielding gang accosted him while opening his house. He braved several cuts as he yelled his lungs out, causing his adversaries to flee," DCI stated.

The directorate said that according to preliminary investigations, the gang formed to avenge three robbery suspects, who were previously cornered and subjected to mob justice by members of the public.

Watchmen became targets as the gang believed they were the ones who gave information on them.

The 14 are being held at the Kakamega Police Station awaiting arraignment.
