DP Gachagua recently asked Kenyans of goodwill to donate a percentage of their salaries to help those affected by drought.

Barely days after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua asked Kenyans of goodwill to donate their salaries towards hunger relief, the Government has now unveiled an official paybill number for drought relief donations.

In a statement via Twitter on Tuesday, November 29, Gachagua shared 880990 as the official Mpesa paybill number where Kenyans can channel their donations to help those affected by drought.

"The National Drought Response Steering Committee has today released the PayBill and bank account details that will allow Kenyans to donate cash to assist those impacted by the ongoing drought.

"M-PESA payBill 880990 use your name as the account number or National Drought Mitigation Appeal Fund Kenya Commercial Bank, Riverside Branch, ACC. NO. 1305486137," the statement read in part.

Gachagua had earlier asked Kenyans of goodwill to donate a percentage of their salaries towards mitigating hunger in the country.

"Already, our men and women in the KDF have offered to forego a day's salary to contribute to the response kitty.

"We appeal to Kenyans of goodwill to contribute a percentage of their salaries to a pay bill number we shall be publishing soon," Gachagua stated.
