Key Azimio Leader Resigns

Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance Coalition Youth League Chairman Solomon Kuria has resigned.

Kuria announced his resignation on Thursday, December 8, claiming that the coalition is no longer walking on its ideals path.

The youth leader has gone under since ODM leader Raila Odinga lost the August 9, elections.

He was conspicuously absent when the Azimio coalition held its first Kamukunji rally on Wednesday, December 7.

While resigning Kuria blasted Azimio for organising the Kamukunji rally without consultation.

He accused the Azimio leadership of not consulting on the issue stating that the rally is against the tenets of the Azimio coalition.

"Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party was formed as a culmination of extensive consultations amongst key stakeholders. At all times, the rule of law, protection of suitable ambience for investors and Kenyans, in general, to work, do business and attend to their daily chores was a guiding principle agreed upon by all those involved," Kuria said while weighing in on the Kamukunji meeting.

He added:

"It is strange that nobody found it necessary to consult or inform me of any of these plans, much as I am the representative of the largest constituency of the membership of the Party, youth." 

He went on to state that Azimio agreed that the only way they will express dissent on the election is through the courts and not mass action.

He asked the youth to keep off demos saying it does not reflect the ideals of democracy and good leadership.
