The Deputy President maintained that the NYS officers will man the state offices at a fee.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that the government will have a discussion to have officers from the National Youth Service (NYS) replace security officers in manning government offices.

Speaking on Thursday, December 15, while opening the Nation-Huawei Job Fair 2022 at KICC, the DP said that the NYS officers will do the work at a fee.

Gachagua said that the government was going to have a discussion with ministries and state departments on how to reassign security officers manning the government premises.

"Going forward we are going to have a discussion with government ministries and state corporations to have a concrete plan on how to remove our officers from the security forces to go and deal with crime so that we can have NYS personnel man those offices at a fee," Gachagua stated.

The DP said that NYS officers were disciplined and could do most of the work at the state offices as security officers get assigned to other duties.

Gachagua maintained that he was a graduate of NYS, lauding it for its service to the country.

He further urged employers to tap their workforce from the service maintaining they can never go wrong by hiring graduates of NYS.

"I am a graduate of NYS. We were there in 1985 at Gilgil for a basic training course, and it is a wonderful service. I am glad for the good work NYS is doing," the DP added
