The KANU chairman has suspended the top official from the party.

KANU chairman Gideon Moi has suspended the party's Secretary General Nick Salat.

In a letter on Thursday, December 15, Gideon said that Salat will remain suspended from the party pending the determination of disciplinary proceedings over violation of the party's constitution.

The KANU boss maintained that Salat's suspension was advised by a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Thursday that centered on the conduct of the party secretary general.

"This is to notify you that at the National Executive Committee meeting on December 15, several complaints on your conduct and violation of the party Constitution were placed before the members for discussion.

"In exercise of its mandate under article 15 of the constitution, the committee resolved that you  be and hereby suspended forthwith from carrying out and or performing your duties as the party's Secretary General pending the determination of the disciplinary proceedings," read part of the letter.

Gideon further said that the disciplinary proceedings by the party's disciplinary committee will be completed in the next 30 days to determine Salat's fate.

Salat's suspension comes as the party plans to hold elections for officials early next year.

KANU is one of the affiliate parties in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party.
