  • The election is viewed as a roadmap to the 2022 general election succession politics.

The Orange Democratic Party has pulled out of the upcoming Nakuru by-elections, opting to support the Jubilee Party.

The party has announced it will not take part in the Hell's Gate and London Ward by-elections.

The revelation was made by ODM Nakuru county chairman Peter Ole Osono when he joined Jubilee campaigns in the London ward.

Present in the meeting are MPs Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West), David Gikaria (Nakuru Town East), Maina Kamanda (Nominated), Babu Owino (Embakasi East) and Kanini Kega (Kieni).

With the exit of ODM, the contest will be between Jubilee and United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The by-election is expected to show a clear picture of the country's 2022 general elections pitting President Uhuru Kenyatta's camp and his out of favor deputy William Ruto.

Recent campaigns in the areas have seen succession politics dominated the debate.

Leaders allied to Rutto have exuded confidence that they would carry the day, asking hopefuls to seek a mandate from the people in votes.

The UDA team, running on the hustler narrative, has implored the electorate to stand with Ruto after abandoned by his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The leaders have asked the electorate to show revolt towards the Jubilee candidates following the fallout between Uhuru and his deputy.

The leaders claim that the Uhuru has deserted Ruto despite campaigning for him twice.
