Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has cleared the air regarding a viral video of him sprinting to Deputy President William Ruto’s function in Murang’a County on Sunday.

In the video, Senator Kang’ata can be seen sprinting heading to a church service that was attended by DP Ruto.

When the video first emerged, netizens had diverse viewpoints with some claiming that the Senator was scared of disappointing his new boss DP Ruto.

However, Senator Kang’ata has dismissed the claims noting that he was sprinting because he was late for the function.

According to him, when he got to the event venue, cars had blocked the entrance, therefore he decided to get off his car and sprint in a bid to catch the event that had already started.

“Ignore the propaganda…. I came to DP's function very late . Found the entrance blocked by vehicles. I alighted and run past the blocking vehicles towards the church as the speeches were almost done,” Kang’ata tweeted.

It is worth noting that this was first time the DP was visiting Murang’a County since Senator Kang’ata joined the Tanga tanga brigade.
