Drama as 3 Suspected Robbers Narrowly Escape Death

The proverbial 40 days of a thief reached for three suspected robbers in Kinoo, Kiambu County.

DCI boss George Kinoti said the three Topla Muteti, Kelvin Kamau and Erick Karanja, all aged between 21 and 22, almost met their death after they stole valuables from a woman who was heading home.

The robbery incident prompted boda boda riders operating at the nearby stage to swing into action and give the three a chase after the woman raised alarm.

"Immediately after the attack, the trio immediately took flight aboard a red motorbike, prompting the boda boda riders to give chase at full light, baying for their blood," DCI boss Kinot said in a statement.

The three were cornered at Uthiru 87 area when one of the pillion passengers aboard the gateway motorbike attempted to jump and escape.

His action led to the rider of the gateway motorbike losing direction and ending up landing in a ditch.

"The ill-fated bike wobbled for a few metres and landed in a ditch, leaving the miscreants at the mercy of the irate motorbike riders.

"What followed was a beating the thugs had never experienced in their lives, as the boda boda riders descended on them with blows and kicks accusing them of soiling their good name by using motorbikes as their gateway means after committing the crime," the DCI added.

Police from Kinoo police station who heard the commotion responded swiftly and rescued the three from the boda boda riders.

The suspects were found in possession of a homemade firearm capable of firing.

The thugs are currently fighting for their lives at a hospital in Wangige, Kiambu county.

The motorbike used by the thugs had registration number KMFH 382L.

The motorbike is in police custody as detectives launch investigations into the crime incident.
