A plane crash in South Sudan's Jonglei area killed 10 people who were on board.

Reports from the officials indicated that two pilots were also among the fatalities after the South Supreme Airlines flight HK-4274 bound for the capital Juba went down.

"News reaching us indicates that a commercial plane has crashed in the town of Pieri in Jonglei state while setting off for Juba,” Kur Kuol, the director of Juba International Airport was quoted by a publication.

The airline's official said they were not yet sure how many people were on the flight.

Fatal Crash

Speaking on the crash, Jonglei Governor Denay Jock Chagor termed the accident as a "great shock and horror".

“It was with great shock and horror to receive the news of the plane crash (HK-4274) of South Sudan Supreme Airline that happened today the 2nd day of March 2021 at around 5.05 PM at Pieri Airstrip,” the Governor said.

The airline which is one of South Sudan’s primary air carriers suffered another plane crash in 2017.

Several planes have crashed in recent years in South Sudan most notable case being the 2015 accident that killed at least 32 people being among the renowned cases in the last decade.
