Former Sports Cabinet Secretary was caught on camera physically assaulting an IEBC presiding officer at Bulonga Primary School in Matungu in a row over agents' access to the polling station.

Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa was on March 4, captured on Camera slapping an Independent Electoral and Boundaries (IEBC) official at Bulonga Primary School.

The institution is one of the polling stations in Matungu Constituency, where a by-election is underway to elect the area Member of Parliament.

The seat fell vacant after the untimely demise of Justus Murunga.

In an amateur footage seen by NairobiLeo.co.keEchesa can be heard engaging in a heated confrontation with the presiding officer, almost turning physical.

"You were told by who? Why are our agents outside the polling station my friend?" Echesa can be heard asking.

In the video, an irate Echesa seeks to know who issued an order barring UDA agents from accessing the polling station before proceeding to slap the official.

"You can not chase away our agents," Echesa states.

Though the full cause of the incident is not entirely definitive, the former CS and his team are believed to have differed on grounds of agents witnessing the by-elections.
