Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has issued a new directive regarding the invigilation of KCSE and KCPE exams in the country.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has issued a new directive on the supervision of national examinations in the country.

The CS on March 4 issued an order stating that invigilators of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) will not serve in the same centres for more than two years.

Magoha's directive comes ahead of the national examinations slotted to commence on March 22, 2021, for the KCPE and March 26, 2021, for the KCSE.

The CS during a meeting with Education stakeholders on March 4, handed over keys and locks for the security containers holding the examination papers.

Magoha assured that supervision of exams across the country this year will be different from other previous years.

He further warned that no Exam Centre Manager will be allowed to collect examination papers without a face mask.

The CS ordered that all centres have handwashing points and provide sanitizers as the fight against Covid-19 continues.

This year 1,088,986 candidates are expected to sit for KCPE while 699,745 students for the KCSE.

All teachers on leave have already been recalled as the Ministry of Education gears up to conduct the examinations later this month.

Magoha also directed school heads to ensure candidates have completed their college and high school applications before sitting for the exams.
