A judge at a court in Eldoret has warned widows to stay away from a man identified as Vincent Kiriago Mogambi after it emerged that he has been taking advantage of grieving widows and deceiving them into giving him all their property.

Judge Boaz. N. Olao issued the advisory after listening to a case by a lady identified as Elizabeth Afandi Kayiya who accused Mogambi of defrauding her and registering her wealth under his name.

According to Elizabeth, after her husband’s death, Mogambi pursued her and they decided to cohabit with the later who later defrauded her.

While making his ruling, the judge urged widows to be careful, noting that during such times they are vulnerable and need a helper not a fraud.

“What widows need most at their time of distress is a helper who can shower them with love and offer support not deceitful and thieving men whose main goal is to strike at vulnerable widows ,” he said.

The Judge used Biblical scriptures to send the message home, quoting several verses which warn against taking advantage of widows.

He specifically quoted Mark 12:40 which states: “They take advantage of widows and rob them of their homes, and then make a show of saying long prayers.”
