Police have arrested a 17-year-old student for the murder of businesswoman Caroline Wanjiku.

The student was arrested together with another suspect, a tout in Kisii with two mobile phones that belonged to the businesswoman.

A Kibera tout, Justus Nyamete Manyura alias Dennis Ongingo, was found with the Samsung Galaxy A20S phone while the 17-year-old student at St Lawrence Nyabieyo Secondary School was had the second phone, an Oppo.

Solving the murder

Caroline went missing on February 12, under mysterious circumstances, and when her family reported the matter detectives found her body dumped in a bush in Kajiado.

A police report filed at the station indicated she may have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene.

Detectives believe Wanjiku, a former employee at the Co-operative Bank in Embu, was kidnapped after someone lured her with the promise of helping her boost her Stima Sacco shares.

She withdrew Ksh350,000 from her bank account at the Co-operative Bank Stima Plaza branch on the afternoon of February 12.
