According to Prof Magoha, the cartels are hoping to sneak the fake papers through porous border points at Isebania, Busia, Migori and Kisii.

Ministry of Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has revealed that there is a plan to distribute fake national exam papers in the country.

Speaking at Chavakali High School on Saturday, Magoha urged parents and teachers to be alert and not fall victim to scammers planning to confuse KCPE AND KCSE candidates with fake papers.

According to Prof Magoha, the cartels are hoping to sneak the fake papers through porous border points at Isebania, Busia, Migori and Kisii.

Prof Magoha, however, noted that the government will not tolerate any exam malpractices and has promised to deal with such criminals with the full force of the law.

Close to two million KCPE and KCSE candidates will commence their national exams in the next two weeks.

"This ministry will not take cheating lightly and this is why we are sending a warning to all those planning to confuse our children or parents that the full force of the law will used against those found culpable.

"Schools have made tremendous preparations for the examinations. Even Covid-19 is not a challenge any more. Through the help of county governments who have been instrumental in issuing masks to learners, everything has fallen in place except for the merchants planning to confuse our children. Teachers should come out strong in such situations,” he said.

Addressing candidates, Magoha urged them to be confident and courageous, adding that examiners are aware of the effects of Covid-19 on the education system.

"Do not think that the government has not put the long holidays the learners had into consideration. This is not to say that the tests will be easy. We want our children to avoid anxiety as it is detrimental to them during this period. There is a lot of scaremongering and that must stop," Magoha divulged.
