Kenya has deported a citizen of the United States wanted for crimes committed at the US Capitol buildings on January 6, 2021.

Kenya has deported an American national Isaac Sturgeon who was wanted for crimes of insurrection on the US Capitol Building.

January 6, 2021, is a day to forget for most Americans after supporters of former US President Donald Trump stormed Capitol Buildings leaving massive damages to property. The incident was widely criticised as an act of domestic terrorism.

Since then, several perpetrators have been arrested and sentenced, with a search still ongoing to nab the rest.

Yahoo Finance on March 9 reported that Sturgeon fled to Kenya on January 24 and had planned to stay until the end of April.

Local Security, however, caught and detained him prior to his unceremonious deportation.

The 32-year-old is accused of picking up a metal barricade and using it to shove back security officers who were guarding the US Capitol.

The publication further quotes federal officers as saying that Sturgeon attempted to crawl under the barriers to enter the US capitol.

He was deported on March 7 and was met by the Federal Bureau of Investigation sleuths at the JF Kennedy International Airport in New York.

The business owner hailing from Montana is facing accusations of obstruction of justice, civil disorder, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds, and assaulting or resisting law enforcement.

The publication reports that the prosecution in Sturgeon's case may seek he be detained without bond, pending trial.

A warrant for his arrest was issued on February 5, and his phot published alongside several others. Police sought public help in tracing the perpetrators.

“As captured on D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (“MPD”) Body-Worn Camera (“BWC”), on January 6, 2021, Sturgeon was on the grounds of the United States Capitol Building wearing a green jacket, green scarf, grey knit hat and dark backpack,” the arrest papers read in part.
