Aisha Jumwa hinted at challenging Mung'aro's win in the corridors of justice.

ODM party's Gideon Mung'aro is the governor-elect for Kilifi county.

Mung'aro trounced his main challenger Aisha Jumwa of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party with over 70,000 votes.

He garnered 143,773 votes against Jumwa’s 65,893 votes.

In third place was George Kithi of the Pamoja Africa Alliance (PAA) party; Kithi garnered 64,321 votes.

Mung'aro now becomes second Kilifi chief executive after Amason Kingi who has served for ten years.

However, taking to her Facebook handle, Jumwa was not satisfied with the outcome of the polls.

She hinted at filing a petition against the ODM candidate's win;

"Service to humanity is also Service to God. I have passionately and diligently  served my people in different influences in the political field. I want to take this special opportunity to thank all my supporters who believed in me and voted for me with overwhelming majority.

 I respect the IEBC verdict however not in agreement with it. As the law stipulates I have my constitutional rights to pursue justice to myself and to the people of kilifi. Lets continue walking together to our destiny and the victory is all ours," she said.

Prior to trying her luck at the coastal county's top job, Jumwa served as the Malindi MP, a seat she won in the 2017 General Election via an ODM party ticket.

She however relocated to Deputy President William Ruto's camp after cutting ties with former premier Raila Odinga.
