Ministry of Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’I has relived his time at the Ministry of Education, stating that he misses serving in that role.

Speaking at Njiiris High School in Murang’a County on Thursday, Matiang’i noted that he really enjoyed interacting with students, adding that his current role does not accord him the same opportunity.

According to Matiang’i, interacting with students from different backgrounds helped him understand the challenges facing today’s children and how to combat them.

“Your lives are a promise, a promise for our country and because of that, I want you to know we sincerely love you. I sincerely sometimes miss my days as CS Education because I used to spend my time in schools, hanging out with you and enjoying the promise of our country and the future of our people,” he said.

He thanked the school leadership, noting that they have been instrumental in instilling knowledge and good morals among students.

According to CS Matiang’i, no amount of money is enough to pay teachers for the work they do in nurturing children.

He assured the school leadership that the government will work closely with them and provide the necessary support when necessary.

Addressing the students, CS Matiang’i urged them to work hard as they have an opportunity to shape their future now.
