Long-serving Radio Citizen Managing Editor Robin Njogu has passed hours after losing their mother.

Radio icon and Managing Editor at Radio Citizen, Robin Njogu is Dead.

The veteran radio journalist succumbed to Covid-19 at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, his family has said.

His demise comes as a double tragedy for the family, having lost their mother hours before Njogu's death.

ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru took to Twitter to confirm the saddening news, also paying tribute to the journalist.

"I’m saddened to learn of the passing on of Robin Njogu and his mum. Robin was a consummate journalist and contributed heavily to the development of radio news in the country.

"Sad loss for his young family, RMS and the media fraternity in the country. May God comfort his family," CS Mucheru condoled.

Renowned sports journalist Saddique Shabaan also mourned Njogu as a leader in the media industry, paying his respects.

"Gutted to learn about the demise of one of the most authoritative journalists in Kenya. Rest in peace, Robin Njogu. These are difficult times for everyone," Shabaan eulogised.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua also paid his respects to the fallen journalist.

"The other day when I visited him at the hospital he was cheerful and getting better...what a sad night," Mutua condoled.
