Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege is admitted at the nairobi Hospital.

Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege is admitted at the nairobi Hospital.

The revelation was made by her lawyers Otiende Amollo and Senator James Orengo on Tuesday before the IEBC commission.

The two were appearing before Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to proceed with the full hearing regarding Sabina's remarks that Jubilee might have rigged the 2017 polls.

Explaining why Sabina was not present, Otiende told the IEBC commission that Sabina was admitted to the Nairobi hospital on February 16th, 2022.

"The respondent (Woman Rep. Sabina Chege) is not in attendance today as she is indisposed and has been admitted in Nairobi Hospital on 16th of February and is currently still undergoing treatment," Otiende told the commission.

According to the letter by doctor Erick Munene Muriuki, the Murang'a women rep has not been discharged yet.

The lawyers requested that the hearing be postponed until Sabina was available to proceed with the hearing.

IEBC has pushed Sabina Chege’s case hearing to March 8 2022, following her hospitalization.

Last week, IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati ruled that the case would proceed to a full hearing.

“Indeed the question as to whether the commission has the jurisdiction to hear the matter such as the one before it has been the subject of litigation in the High Court. The court upon examination found that the procedure followed by the committee and the decision rendered was well within its power,” Chebukati said.
