Raila said Chebukati committed serious crimes after allegedly bungling the 2022 presidential election.

The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga now calls for the prosecution of the outgoing Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati.

Raila wants Chebukati to be presented before the Hague-based International Criminal Case (ICC) to answer to crime against humanity charges.

He argues that Chebukati bungled the 2022 presidential election and he thus merits to be charged in court.

Raila declared that there would be no election going forward until the "quagmire" created by Chebukati is dealt with.

"There will be no need for elections until Chebukati's mess is cleared. He must be prosecuted for the crime against humanity. He must be presented to the Hague," said Raila.

The former prime minister said he would soon shed light on the malpractices that took the centre stage of the concluded polls.

He also defended the embattled four commissioners whom he said did not commit any crime.

According to him, Chebukati is the one supposed to be held responsible for the electoral blunders.

Raila spoke on Friday, January 6, in Mombasa where he engaged the ODM leaders.

The ODM boss lost in his fifth presidential bid after President William Ruto garnered over 7.1 million votes to be declared the duly elected president.

Raila trailed with over 6.9 million votes.

He disputed the poll outcome and presented a petition at the Supreme Court which threw it out for lack of evidence.

Ruto would later be inaugurated as Kenya's fifth president on September 13, 2022.
