Kenya's Covid positivity rate has jumped tenfold from 2.6% in January to 22% in March, President Uhuru Kenyatta said on Friday, March 26.

The Head of State announced new drastic measures to curb the infection rate as announced they are full to capacity with patients.

To avert a national health crisis President Kenyatta announced the following measures under Public Order Number 2 as follows:

1. Cessation of movement in Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Nakuru, and Kiambu which account for 70% of the cases from midnight tonight.

2. Meetings in the said counties have been banned too.

3. All in-person meetings in the 5 counties banned.

4. The two speakers will move to affect the decision.

5. International travel will continue in accordance with the exciting guidelines. All persons must have the required documents.

6. Curfew hours will begin at 8 pm and end at 4 am in the 5 counties. The rest of the country shall remain from 10 pm to 4 pm.

7. Ministry of Interior and Health directed to review protocol for resistance of curfew exceptions. All issued passes have been vacated immediately.

8. Worship congregation has been suspended in the counties until otherwise. Other counties shall continue in accordance with the set guidelines.

9. Physical learning in Kenya has been suspended immediately other than candidates sitting for exams and those in training at medical institutions.

10. All sporting events suspended. This includes members' clubs.

11. Operation of bars in the 5 counties and the sale of alcohol in the counties has been banned. Restaurants and hotels will only provide takeaways. In other counties, they shall continue but follow MoH guidelines.

12. PSVs have been asked to maintain 60% carrying capacity.
