Mumias East MP Peter Kalerwa Salasy has pledged to build a house for an ardent supporter of ODM leader Raila Odinga after his village hut was burnt.

Naru Okanga has been going viral before and after the August 9, general elections speaking well of Raila and being tough on his critics.

Okanga recently went online asking Kenyans for help to put up a house after his village hut was burnt by unknown people.

His plea got the attention of Salasya who pledged to do something for him.

The MP sent the political activist Sh3000 as his bus fare from Nairobi to Mumias where he was to meet him so that they can plan on how he would help him put up a house.

On Thursday, the MP shared a video of him in a meeting with Okanga during which he reiterated his pledge to set up a house for him.

"#Nuruokanga hawakufanyia poa kukuchomea nyumba si poa but nitakujengea nyumba ndio urudi tena Nairobi ....meanwhile it was good meeting you for the first time in my life," the MP wrote on Facebook.

The MP said he will help bounce back because he is also from a poor background as him hence he has a passion for helping such people rise.
