Eseli Simiyu: The nomination process will be the moment of reckoning for the alliance that will determine whether it will hold or not

Tongaren Member of Parliament (MP) Eseli Simiyu has weighed in on the future of the One Kenya Alliance, stating that how it nominates its flag bearer will determine whether it stands the test of time.

According to Eseli, One Kenya Alliance made up of; Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) and Gideon Moi (Kanu) needs to come up with a proper nomination technique, that is acceptable to the four principals in order to prevent a fall out.

He further notes that the unity of the coalition depends on whether the principals are ready to put aside their personal interests, and support whoever is selected flag bearer.

“The nomination process will be the moment of reckoning for the alliance that will determine whether it will hold or not.

“They will have to choose carefully depending on what each of them brings to the table. If they start chest-thumping and scaremongering, they may not stand the test of time,” Eseli told a local daily.

Weighing in on the same issue, ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire argued that the Alliance will not make a huge impact on the Kenyan political scene since they are not backed by a more superior person.

“As part of a system they can move a national agenda. But individually and as a group, they can not rise to the occasion… They have just come to the scene and are designed to make an impact but their driver and the force behind them is yet to be known. They can't go far, they are someone's makeshift,” Bosire opined.
