Kakamega-based tycoon Cleophas Shimanyula has promised to put a spirited campaign to ensure that his senator Cleophas Malala fails to clinch the governor seat in the August 9, polls.

Speaking to a Western-based Nyota Fm, Shimanyula, a financially-endowed businessman known for owning fleets of vehicles and a number of businesses, said he will use three-quarters of his wealth to ensure Malala fails.

"I will use three-quarters of my wealth to ensure he fails. I can sell my 10 lorries, I sell 7 other vehicles and use the resources in campaigning for Barasa to win," he said.

According to the tycoon, who also sponsors Homeboys FC, Malala is unfit to manage the county resources.

He claimed that the Senator performed poorly and can therefore not lead the county in development matters.

"I know Fernades has been the Ketraco CEO. He has managed billions of shillings. Fernades has managed a budget of Sh65 billion, Sh30 billion. He can therefore manage the small county budget well compared to Malala who has never managed such," he added.

Shimanyula said he will sit with Kakamega residents and direct them on which way to go and explain to them why Malala is unfit for the office.

The businessman is known to be influential in Kakamega county owing to his businesses empire.

Malala recently got a boost in the governor race after former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale stepped down for him.
