  • Kenya's Covid-19 death toll rises to 2,368, MoH says.

Kenya's Covid-19 positivity rate is now at 16.3pc after 486 people tested positive from 2,989 samples.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health (MoH) announced the 20 succumbed to the disease bringing the death toll to 2,368.

"20 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours; 2 occurred in the last 24 hours, 5 within the last one month & 13 being late death reports from facility record audits. This now pushes our cumulative fatalities to 2,368," the statement read.

According to MoH 115 patients have been discharged bringing total recoveries to 99,210. 61 patients were discharged from various health facilities while 54 were from Home Based & Isolation Care.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 99,210 with the cumulative discharges from the Home Based Care & Isolation being 72,115 while those released from various hospitals now total 27,095.

1,645 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 6,063 patients are on Home Based Isolation & Care.

A total of 248 patients are in the ICU, 48 of whom are on ventilatory support and 169 on supplemental oxygen. 31 patients are under observation.

As of yesterday, a total of 487,278 people had been vaccinated with the Astrazeneca vaccine.

118,833 are Health Workers, 39,523 Security Officers, 70,338 Teachers & 258,584 are other members of the public who include those at 58 years and above.
