Senator Murkomen blasts IG Hillary Mutyambai over cancellation of meetings that were to be held by DP William Ruto

He accused the IG of Police interfering with political fights between his "bosses"

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has dared the IG of Police Hillary Mutyambai to resign if he can't serve all Kenyans fairly.

On Monday morning IG Mutyambai was engaging Kenyans and answering questions that involve the police force.

Kenyans questioned the IG over the recent ban of meetings and gatherings held by Deputy President William Ruto.

Some noted that leaders allied to the Kieleweke faction were holding political rallies but Tangatanga rallies were being scuffled by police.

The IG of Police acknowledged that he had taken note of the concerns raised by Kenyans on Twitter and in his response said that violence is a major reason why political gatherings were being banned.

"I have taken note of complaints about the selective application of enforcing the law on public gatherings.
@NPSOfficial_KE authorizes public gatherings after ascertaining that there is no risk of violence or attack on the particular group," IG Mutyambai stated.

Troubled Gatherings

"Should we establish any possible risk, then authorization is declined for the safety of the public & the properties around the said area. There are groups that have not attracted any form of violence while others have attracted violence, hence varied authorizations," he continued.

However, his answer did not sit well with Senator Murkomen who accused the IG of police on interfering "in political fights between his bosses".

"If you don’t want to serve all fairly or if you are got in between the political fights between your bosses & you can’t handle it resign," the Senator stated.

"If anything goes wrong in our country especially because you are stoking hatred and tension through selective application of the law you will be held PERSONALLY liable even if you will have retired. Don’t say you were not warned," he added.

This comes amid a series of cancellation of meetings that were to be held by DP Ruto in Mumias East, by police.
