Mutua accused OKA of creating divisions in the Azimio camp

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has rubbished One Kenya Alliance's threats to exit Azimio la Umoja camp if the changes recently effected by Raila Odinga to accommodate other small parties are not reviewed.

Through his social media pages, Mutua hit out at Kalonzo's Wiper party, Kanu, UDP, and MDG over its letter to the registrar of political parties demanding that the coalition registration be stopped until some contagious issues are solved.

Mutua wondered why Kalonzo and his colleagues are thriving to create divisions in Azimio camp when Raila is busy bringing all parties under the outfit together.

"I cannot find any other reasons for demanding that others be excluded and only a special outfit that creates an “Azimio La Utenganishi” be recognized" stated Mutua.

He urged Raila Odinga to ignore OKA's noise, saying they will not relent until equality in the Azimio camp is achieved. The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said Kalonzo's demands to have a three-legged leadership structure in Azimio (Jubilee, ODM and Wiper) should be given a wide breadth.

He said they will advocate for a four-legged leadership and avoid scenarios where other parties feel superior to others in Raila's led Azimio camp.

"A four-legged one will still stand. Anyone engaging in a manner to ferment a crisis & pushing for the exclusion of others that would make Azimio stronger must be working for the competition to weaken a strong coalition that is meant to propel @RailaOdinga to the presidency" said Mutua.

"This political selfishness is the problem that we have faced in this country - of leaders and opportunists who whine and blackmail all the time and who put their personal interests and not those of Wananchi first" he added

Mutua promised to give a comprehensive press release later in the day in response to OKA's letter to the registrar.

This comes hours after OKA wrote to the registrar of political parties seeking to halt the registration process until certain issues are ironed out.

In a letter seen by this publication, OKA complained to the registrar feeling there are plans to shortchange them. Kalonzo's camp complained saying they feared that the recently changed agreement on April 9, could shortchange Kalonzo, who had been proposed to be Raila's running mate.

They also complained that they had not been consulted over the inclusion of a fourth faction in the coalition, demanding that the initial three factions forming Azimio should be maintained.
