Deputy President William Ruto has said he remains unbowed even in the face of efforts by the police to scuttle each of his meetings and fundraisers in churches across the country.

The DP through his social media pages told his supporters and Christians to be patient and pray over the series of fundraisers cancelled last week.

He made the remarks in reference to media reports that he dodged the police that had been deployed in  Mumias where he was to preside over fundraising for the St Leo Catholic Church.

"That's St. Leo Catholic Church we were to fundraise for the roof. But at God's timing, we shall accomplish that mission. I urge Christians to be patient in prayer. We serve a living God and all the shall come to pass. Jehovah Utuhurumie, Uturehemu na Utusamehe," the Deputy President wrote on Twitter.

Area leaders Benjamin Washuali (Mumias East) and Boni Khalwale (Former Senator -Kakamega) were on Saturday dispersed by police as they addressed the media over the cancellation of the meeting.

Washiali told police their only interest was in letting the people know the Harambee had been cancelled but the officers could not take any of that.

"We are only here to inform the public that the meeting has been postponed. What will you do if the people come here tomorrow? That is all we want to say through the media," the MP told the officers who dispersed the press using teargas.
