The late George Magoha passed on Tuesday, January 24 at the Nairobi Hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest. 

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, January 31 visited the late George Magoha’s Lavington home to condole with the family.

In images seen by Nairobi Leo, Uhuru was in the company of his wife Margaret Kenyatta, former CSs Fred Matiangi (Interior), Margret Kobia (Public Service), Ukur Yattani (Treasury) Eugene Wamalwa (Defense) Joe Mucheru (ICT).

Former Interior PS Karanja Kibicho and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka were also present.

Uhuru Kenyatta in his condolence message eulogized Magoha as a celebrated academic who left behind a strong legacy of public service.

“It is unfortunate and painful that we've lost my friend Prof George Magoha at a time when his family is mourning his brother," the former President said as he wished the Magoha family God's comfort during this difficult period of immense grief.

Uhuru appointed the late Magoha into his Cabinet on March 27, 2019, to replace Fred Matiang’i as the Education Cabinet Secretary.

Magoha who is survived by his widow, Barbara Magoha, and their son, Michael Magoha will be laid to rest on February 11, 2023.
