Deputy President William Ruto has addressed one of the biggest challenges that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party faced on Thursday, April 14 during its nominations.
Addressing the press at UDA headquarters on Thursday evening, Ruto noted that the party had to double its transportation budget because many of the suppliers couldn't deliver their ballot boxes.
In addition, the deputy president said they experienced challenges in two hundred polling stations and would have to repeat the nomination exercise next week on Tuesday.
"We had logistical issues that came up. Many of our transporters were experiencing challenges with fuel across the country.
"In fact, our budget on transportation had to be doubled because many of our suppliers, who had given us quotations, could not deliver ballot boxes at the agreed prices and therefore we had to re-engage, re-negotiate so that we can have the delivery of ballot boxes and ballot papers to the destinations at polling stations across the country," Ruto stated.

"Largely, that contributed to the logistical challenges that we had as a party, but we are happy that in the midst of the fuel crisis UDA has managed to deliver this election," he said.
The presidential hopeful noted that the hiccups notwithstanding, the outfit's National Elections Board managed to deliver free and fair nominations.
Ruto lauded the Anthony Mwaura-led board for overseeing the party primaries. He underscored that the exercise, which was carried out in 36 counties, was run smoothly across the nation.
