Italian President Sergio Mattarella is set to visit Kenya next month, President Ruto has confirmed.

Speaking on Friday, February 3 at State House Nairobi after meeting Italian Ambassador to Kenya Robert Natali, President Ruto said the visit will enhance cooperation between Italy and Kenya.

"President Mattarella's visit is a high point in our relationship and we are looking forward to fruitful discussions on water harvesting, distribution and irrigation,” President Ruto stated.

He added, “People of Kenya and Italy have a long and unique relationship epitomized by Malindi which hosts many Italians.”

Ambassador Natali on his part said that the Italian government is committed to investing in water provision and harvesting in Kenya.

The details emerge weeks after Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua revealed that The United States of America (USA) first lady Dr. Jill Biden would visit Kenya this month.

Mutua confirmed the visit during an interview with Citizen TV’s JKLive show on Wednesday, January 18 but did not reveal the purpose of the visit.

"Next month, we will get high-profile leaders coming to our country. The spouse of the US president will be here in this country," said Mutua.
