The Public Service Commission has declared the position of Government Spokesperson vacant. 

The position had been held by Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna.

In a notice seen by Nairobi Leo, the position enjoys a lucrative salary package any Kenyan can dream of.

The salary scale of a government spokesperson ranges fromSh292,765 - 576,120 per month in terms of basic salary only.

The office holder is entitled to a house allowance of Sh100,000 a month, entertainment allowance of Sh100,000 a month, extraneous allowance of Sh100,000, and domestic servants allowance of Sh100,000.

Also, the officeholder also receives a leave allowance according to the existing rates in the Civil service. Other benefits include medical cover and 30 working days of leave per financial year.

In total, a government Spokesperson can earn a monthly salary of at least Sh692,765 and at most Sh976,120 per month.

To qualify for the position, PSC says one must be a Kenyan citizen and must have at least 15 years of experience as a media or communication practitioner, three years should be in the grade of a director.

One must have a degree in media and communications studies or related disciplines to qualify.

The applicant must also be a member of a relevant professional body and in good standing.

He must also meet the requirements of chapter six of the constitution on leadership and integrity and demonstrate an understanding of national development goals, policies, and objectives including the government transformation agenda.
