  • Senators have vowed to boycott special sitting to debate BBI bill amid allegations of Senator Mithika Linturi's arrest.

Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has claimed that the detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested Senator Mithika Linturi on his way to parliament.

Speaking on Wednesday, Senator Cheruiyot asked the Sebate Speaker to explain whether he is aware of the arrest since the House will be discussing the BBI Bill.

His sentiments were echoed by fellow Senators Geoge Khaniri (Vihiga), Mutula Kilonzo Jr (Makeni) and Kimani Wamatiangi (Kiambu).

The Senate demanded that the DCI explains why they arrested Senator Linturi and threaten not to participate in the debate on Wednesday.

As the debate continued Senator Wamatangi announced that Linturi had a mishap with the police and he has since been released.

But Senator Susan Kihika refuted Wamatangi's claims that Linturi had been released stating that she had spoken with the Meru Semator and he was till in police custody.
