In the Kenya Kwanza Alliance Coalition Agreement, Wetangula has been billed as the next Speaker of the National Assembly.

Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi now says he is no longer interested in serving Parliament as his second term nears an end.

Muturi in an interview on Thursday with this writer noted that he is satisfied with the terms he has served and will now be exploring other options.

"I have said that having done two terms, I wouldn't want to continue any longer. I feel it is fair to allow other Kenyans to take the mantle," he said.

Muturi, while at a parliamentary reporters' retreat, also revealed plans to extend the calendar of Parliament for at least one week to allow for the completion of pending works.

Muturi is one of the names that has been widely mentioned as a potential running mate of Deputy President William Ruto.

The DP party leader had expressed interest in the presidency before he quit the race and backed Ruto's presidential bid.

Considering that the UDA party will field a presidential and deputy presidential candidate, chances are high that Muturi will not be picked because he belongs to another party.

In the Kenya Kwanza Alliance Coalition Agreement, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula has been billed as the next Speaker of the National Assembly.
