Lady Justice Martha Koome is set to earn a basic salary of Ksh990,000 which could rise to Ksh1.3 million every month inclusive of allowances.
Her appointment as Chief Justice seems highly likely with reports indicating that President Uhuru Kenyatta urged parliament to expedite the process after submitting her name to National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi on April 28, 2021.
“The committee is requested to consider the nomination on a priority basis,” Muturi said.
The Judiciary will provide her with a house in Runda, but she is at liberty to live where she pleases, like former CJ David Maraga who lived in Karen.
Lady Justice Koome will benefit from a Ksh10 million inpatient insurance scheme with a Ksh300,000 outpatient cover.
The medical insurance shall cover the CJ, her spouse, and up to four children under the age of 25 years - and who depend on her.
Lady Justice Koome will also be provided with a car, expected to be either a Mercedes Benz or a Land Cruiser 200 series.
Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai is expected to assign a security detail to guard her and her home/residence.
She will be assigned a chase car and road clearance privileges to enable her to get around with ease.
As a Judge of the Court of Appeal, Koome’s salary was estimated to be between Ksh600,000 and Ksh900,000.
