President William Ruto has announced that gas prices will drastically fall in the next four months.

Speaking on Thursday, March 2 during the launch of the Women Fund at KICC, Ruto stated that the cost of refiling a six kilograms cylinder will fall from Ksh 1500 to Ksh 300.

“Leo mnanunua Mtungi ya gas kati ya shilingi elfu mbili na elfu mbili mia nane, tumesema sasa tutaweka pesa ya serikali kupunguza gharama ya mtungi wa gas. Ile mtungi mnanunua elfu mbili mia nane, tutaishukisha hadi shilingi mia tano ama mia tatu,” Ruto announced.

The Head of State also warned business individuals who are involved in illegal gas filling that their days are numbered.

“I want to tell all the characters who are involved in the illegal filling of gas cylinders that are posing a threat to the use of gas cylinders that your days are numbered. Hawa illegal gas fillers must get out of the market so that we can structure the market in such a manner that it benefits the people of the Republic of Kenya,” Ruto stated.

Ruto’s announcement comes days after he launched the Taifa Gas Plant at the Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone in Mombasa County.
